This is my very first blog and I have never felt so compelled to write anything about a company until I came across Bumpin Buffalo in Hill City, South Dakota. My family and I stopped in to Bumpin Buffalo after a trip on the 1880 Train in Hill City, South Dakota on our recent vacation to the area. After getting off of the train we were hungry and took a stroll through town to find something to eat. We wound up at Bumpin Buffalo after realizing our first pick of somewhere to eat would not be open for an hour and we were starving.
From the outside Bumpin Buffalo looked like a really interesting place to eat and we were hoping for some interesting and tasty food. Once inside we found the place to be very well decorated for the name of the place with buffalo heads on the wall that were wearing different hats. It was a cute area and we had high hopes for a good meal.
We decided to eat on the roof top deck which my kids thought would be really cool and once up there we were slightly disappointed that the roof top deck was not nearly as interesting as the decor below in the actual restaurant. The menu was not as interesting as we had hoped but my kids all decided to order a hamburger, my husband bought a buffalo burger and I also got a hamburger. When the food arrived we were seriously disappointed. The food was terrible. I could not believe how nasty my burger was and my kids even told me that they didn't care for their food either which is hard to do since they like burgers from just about any place including Burger King and Wendy's.
We spent around $55 for our lunch. We are dinner later that night in our hotel room which cost us around $10 and we all agree it was far better than the food that we had a Bumpin Buffalo. The following night we chose to eat at On The Border in Rapid City, South Dakota. We spent about $2 less on our dinner and got at least twice the food and it tasted SO much better.
If you are looking for a beer or other drink at a smokey roof top deck then Bumpin Buffalo is your place. If you are looking for a decent meal then I would suggest looking somewhere else.
